Miss Yahoo Messenger? Chat rooms are back.
Yahoo Messenger closed for good in July 2018, and its chat rooms were gone long before that. For a lot of us those rooms were where we met friends from other cities and countries, stayed up late talking, and heard that doorbell every time a buddy came online. Yello Messenger brings that feeling back, rebuilt for today with free voice and video calls on every device.
No download or sign-up needed. Pick a nickname and you're in. Prefer an app? Get Yello for Windows, Android or iPhone.
What you'll recognise
- Public chat rooms by topic and country: Malayalam, Indian, UAE, USA, cricket, friendship, late night and more. The busiest rooms are listed first.
- A buddy list that shows who's online, away, busy or in a room, with a doorbell sound when a buddy signs in and a soft door-close when they sign out.
- IM windows for private messages. In the Windows app every chat opens in its own small window, just like the old days.
- Buzz a friend to get their attention. The window shakes.
- Voice rooms: hold to talk in a room, like the old voice chat.
- Status messages and go invisible when you want to lurk.
What's new
- Free voice and video calls with any buddy
- Photos, GIFs, emoji and voice notes in chat
- Works everywhere: in your browser, on Windows, Android and iPhone, with the same account
- Moderated rooms, plus one-click block and report
